World’s Worst Woe
by Samuel Byung-Deuk Lee
Ignorance is bliss they say.
This world is better today.
But some things never leave
We will always be naive.
We are deceived.
Since we were conceived,
We’ve believed
Only what we perceived.
Misconception since our conception
I before U
Indifferent and in different
Like or dislike.
Quite naturally we like to see
What you want to see.
Want you to see what
To see what you want
Racism, sexism – they are the rivers
Ignorance the tributaries.
Cancer, stroke, heart failure pale
To this mental veil
Praise to the teachers of this world
Praise to the leaders of the nations
Praise to the mothers and fathers
Who day to day strive to make a difference
Ignorance is bliss
A mental cyst that never ceases to exists
What can we make of this?
Is it hopeless?
Open your eyes and see.
Try to see the world as it truly be
Not just me, not just you
But everybody
The world’s worst woe
What do you know?
